Rust & Grain Custom Furniture

~ OUR STORY ~

Our story begins 3200kms away and about 30 years ago. Born and raised in a small town in south-western Ontario, my dad was a cabinet-maker by trade. His passion was restoring vintage farmhouse furniture and building Custom furniture for our family. I have many memories of building with my dad in the shop, being around wood and tools.

About 5 years ago, my dad and I built a harvest table together. Building with my dad and building for my family created such a rush. That sense of accomplishment became a catalyst for so much more. In 2016, we operated as a side gig, making signs, decor, and some furniture pieces. People ordered more and more furniture and it exploded and by mid 2017, we were making mostly furniture.

In 2018, we worked from a single car garage but very quickly out grew it. We made it work, or claimed it did, but orders increased and business didn’t slow down! That same year, we joined the great list of vendors at The Olde Farmhouse markets and The Vintage barn markets.

In January of 2020, we moved to a larger shop, almost 4 times the size.

I am the proud father of 3 boys. I am in the place of life where my boys can join me in the shop as I did with my Father. They love tools and they love to learn and build. We named the ‘Oliver’ line after my oldest, which he actually designed at just 7 years old!

As we push forward in 2020, we are excited to move into large scale commercial projects.
